Bonnet was born in Paris in 1927. He exhibited at the Galerie Blanche in Stockholm in 1924 and at the Obelisk Gallery in London in 1955. He was awarded the Fénéon Prize in 1955. Bonnet is represented exclusively by the Galerie Berggruen & Cie in Paris and by the André Emmerich Gallery in New York." « It is only in the limits defined by things, as they appear in addition to the situation in space and time, that the Poet-painter can undertake to reveal his vision of the world. Re-creation of the conditions essential to locate the moment must nevertheless be the result of personal experience. Beauty will be ingenue or will not exist. You can take it on your knee or wring its neck, but it is never given, at each moment it must be conquered, it is only a caricature, a vulgar parody. This transfer is a tragic game, a kind of ritual murder. We must kill the moving reality of the apparent world to release its fruit. And this is not without real danger, since the creator identifies himself, as both subject and object, with the agonising action which he instigated. This is why a valid work of art is in some respects a miracle. If the blood of objects crackles in the candle flame, when the day fades away on the edges of a town and if, suddenly, night carries away the untouchable body of the crime, then, and only then will the sea fill the horizon with a harmony which has been familiar for so long. » Tristan Tzara Avril 1956. 1963Entry to the Galerie Coard (until 1998, with regular exhibitions every 2 years).
